FAQs

ORANGE POWER

Q. Do your products contain Palm Oil?
A. All of our products are completely palm oil free. Not sure what Palm Oil is or why you should avoid it? Learn about it here.

Q. Do your products contain Optical Brightening Agents (OBAs)?
A. No they don’t. Unfortunately, nearly all laundry products contain optical brightening agents (OBAs) to help make whites look ‘whiter’ or less yellow. These ingredients (dyes that absorb light in the ultraviolet region and re-emit light in the ‘blue’ region) are not performance enhancers and are simply a waste of resources and an unnecessary chemical additive that can cause skin irritation. It is also a banned ingredient under ISO standard 14024.

Q. Where can I buy your products? My local supermarket used to stock it but now I can’t find it.
A. You can purchase all Orange Power products through leading supermarkets Australia wide. Click here to find out more. Unfortunately, not all supermarkets stock all our lines. If you used to get it in a particular store but can’t find it anymore, ask for either the STORE manager or the MERCHANDISE manager, and ask them to order some in for you. If this doesn’t work call their head office, as only support from consumers (especially for Australian products) will keep these products on supermarket shelves.

Q. Your products seem more expensive than other cleaners. Why is that?
A. Most people think environmentally responsible products are more expensive but if you look at the shelf price comparison labels (unit pricing) you will see that our products are very competitive, especially as many are in larger packs than competitors. Our pack size for all our ‘Greener Cleaners’ is 750mL – 50% larger than most of our competitors’ 500mL bottles. You will find, based on unit pricing that we are actually less expensive than nearly all of these.

Q. Are refills available for all the 750mL trigger packs?
A. We are not able to get refills onto larger supermarket shelves but we do produce 4/5Ltr in: Shower, Bath and Tile Cleaner, Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Carpet Cleaner ‘Bulk Packs’ – but only available directly from our Melbourne factory now. If we can convince the large supermarkets to stock refill packs, they will be available

Q. How are your Cleaning products different? They all appear the same.
A. All our products are quite different and are specially formulated to perform each advertised task efficiently and economically, with the least impact on the environment.

Q. Are your products safe for my septic system?
A. As none of our products use Bleach, Ammonia’s or Caustics et at all they are quite safe for septics and biocycles etc. They are also readily biodegradable.

Q. Do you test your products on animals?
A. None of our products have ever and will never be tested on animals.

ACTIZYME

Q. Where can I buy your products? I used to be able to get it locally but now can’t find it.
A. You can purchase ACTIZYME through leading supermarkets (cleaning aisle) and hardware outlets (plumbing section) Australia wide. Click here to find out more. Unfortunately not all supermarkets and hardware chains stock all of our lines. If you used to get it at a particular store but now can’t find it, ask for either the STORE Manager or MERCHANDISE Manager, and ask them to order some in for you. If this doesn’t work call their head office, as only support from consumers (especially for Australian products) will keep these products on supermarket shelves.

Q. ACTIZYME seems expensive when compared to chemical caustic drain cleaners.
A. It is more expensive than caustic chemicals (normally caustic soda but often sold under other brand names), but there is a price paid for using these dangerous chemicals. There is a real danger of caustic (alkaline) burning to skin/eyes etc and even an explosion risk in the drainage system itself depending on what other chemicals it mixes with in your drain. There is plenty of information about consumers being harmed by these caustic products as well as by explosions. If you Google ‘drain cleaner explosions’ you will see many consumer stories highlighting the danger. We believe the danger is so high that these products should not be allowed for general usage – even with all the warnings they contain.

ACTIZYME works better long term compared to other caustic based drain cleaners. Caustic products offer little residual effect and actually kill off any good enzymes/bacteria in your system thereby often leading to the return of unpleasant odours and subsequent blocking. They can’t be used in septic systems for this reason.

Q. What pack sizes does ACTIZYME come in?
A. ACTIZYME comes in different pack sizes (in hardware outlets), but the main size found is 450g. This pack size is designed to last about 4-10 months (depending on usage) as a preventative and used as per pack directions. If you have a blockage, more will be required depending on the severity. Other pack sizes available are 100g ‘starter’ packs and 900g and 3kg ‘bulk’ packs.

Q. How do ACTIZYME pellets compare with enzyme liquids?
A. It is often hard to compare prices and function with other enzyme liquid products as they are diluted with water. ACTIZYME is a pellet and as such is concentrated. To speed up action time you can make up an enzyme liquid solution from the pellets by soaking in water for 30 minutes then dose immediately. Should you prefer a liquid, we also manufacture ECOZYME B+ or Plumbers Mate which is available at bigger hardware outlets.

Q. Are your products tested on animals?
A. None of our products have ever, nor will they ever be tested on animals.

Q. Where can it be used?
A. ACTIZYME can be used safely pretty much anywhere. The enzymes themselves are naturally occurring throughout our ecosystem and even within our own bodies to help breakdown and digest proteins, grease, fats, vegetable matter and so on. Our saliva (Amylase) is one of the first enzymes in our digestive system used to begin the digestive process. Use in DRAINS, GREASE TRAPS, TOILETS (whether septic or sewer), in every area of the home and industry. Showers, kitchens, laundries, waste treatment areas, septic pits or wherever there is a drain that will gradually block up or smells that needs removing. See packs for dosage quantities.

Q. Can Actizyme be used in dishwashers?
A. Yes – As there is normally a build up of organic waste in sumps of dishwashers, Actizyme works really well in digesting these quickly and efficiently. Add 1 heaped teaspoon straight into the base of the machine and run a cold water cycle.

Q. How quickly will it act?
A. This depends on the level and nature of blockage. Normally you will notice some improvement within 24 hours, but it may be a few weeks for very blocked drains. Note that if ACTIZYME is used regularly the drains would normally not get blocked in the first place!

If the blockage is caused by a living tree root, you may firstly need to call a plumber or try killing the tree root using products like Rootox™ which then allows ACTIZYME to digest the dead wood.

If the blockage is caused by hair, it may take some time to be removed as hair breaks down slowly. It WILL help but may take some weeks to clear the blockage and need repeated application. It may be quicker to remove the ‘U’ bend under the sink and manually clear it. An ongoing ACTIZYME will keep it free from future blockages.

Q. When is the best time to dose?
A. ACTIZYME is best dosed last thing at night or if you are leaving your house for holidays or long weekend etc. This allows the Actizyme to work by allowing the pellets to remain in the system overnight or longer. Repeat once a month or follow on pack instructions.

Q. What about Septics?
A. ACTIZYME was originally designed to help septics work at maximum efficiency. Septic systems are especially prone to being ‘killed off’ by today’s nasty chemicals (especially the caustic drain cleaners and other anti-bacterial cleaners) and ACTIZYME helps boost the septics enzyme/bacteria system, allowing it to function well without any nasty odours. ACTIZYME also assists by keeping the absorption trenches clear of blockages.

Q. What about if the water from the drains is used on the gardens?
A. Enzymes are a natural part of the ecosystem and as such are harmless to the garden. If anything, they will ensure a quicker conversion of soil and other leaf material into good garden compost. (We actually sell a similar product designed specifically for compost bins to help speed the compost process).

Q. Are enzymes safe for the environment?
A. Yes – the enzymes used in ACTIZYME are completely biodegradable and safe for the environment. In fact they are beneficial to the environment!

Q. Australian made & owned with a money back guarantee!
A. For over 40 years ACTIZYME has been helping unblock drains and remove smelly odours. It was developed in Australia and is made and owned by an Australian-owned family company.

ORGANIC CHOICE

Q. Where can i buy the Organic Choice range?
A. You can find the Organic Choice Dishwashing Liquid, Candles and Air Fresheners at Coles supermarkets.

Q. Do the products contain palm oil?
A. All of our products are completely palm oil free. Not sure what Palm Oil is or why you should avoid it? Learn about it here.

Q. Do your products contain any nasties?
A. No our products are made from naturally derived ingredients and are SLES & SLS free and free from petroleum.

Q. Do these products contain certified organic essential oils?
A. Yes the Organic Choice range contains certified organic essential oils, supporting Organic farmers.

Q. Are the Organic Choice candles made from pure soy?
A. Yes the Organic Choice candles are made from 100% Pure Soy Wax.

Soy candles are made from soybeans, a natural, renewable source grown in many regions by local farmers which carries the essential oil aroma to truly experienced.

Paraffin candles are made from petroleum, which is a non-renewable source that contains carcinogenic substances.

A candle made from soy wax burns cleaner with little soot released as the candle burns.  Soy candles are also non-toxic, so they won’t release toxins into the air as they burn.  They have a slower burning time and cooler burning temperature.  Soy wax is also biodegradable.

Q. Why do some of the candles in the range differ visually?
A. Our soy candles may differ slightly in the way they are filled as our range are poured by hand.  We take time in preparing and hand crafting our candles, they are not mass manufactured by machines.

Q. How many hours will each candle burn for?
A. Each candle will be slightly different but on average each will burn for approx. 30 hours in total.

To get the most from your candle keep the wick trim, this will extend the burning time and prevent the candle from smoking.  For best results light the candle for a few hours and then put out the flame and trim the wick.  Do this every few hours when you first use the candle.

Q. Can i spray the air freshener/linen spray directly onto fabrics and sheets?
A. This range has been developed to be used both as an air freshener and linen spray.  You can spray over linen and fabrics but take care not to spray heavily directly on the material, rather spray a fine mist above the surface.

As always, test on a small, inconspicuous area of the fabric first to test to ensure it does not leave a mark, as fabrics will vary.
