HOW TO BE ECO-FRIENDLY ON YOUR NEXT BEACH TRIP
Taking advantage of the sun and sand this summer? Don’t forget you can still be eco-friendly at the beach! Being environmentally responsible doesn’t just end at home. There are many easy ways to practice living a greener lifestyle in your daily life. Here’s 4 easy ways to be eco-friendly on your next beach trip…
1. Avoid the sand dunes
It might be tempting to have a good roll down the dunes, but constant activity on sand dunes and vegetation causes erosion which ruins the beach. Try and stick to the regular sand and if you must walk through sand dunes or vegetation be very careful with your footprints.
2. Clean up after your pet
It’s fun to take your pet to the beach and throw a good Frisbee around. Just remember to check that the beach your visiting is pet friendly and always pack extra doggy waste bags, pet excrement is extremely bad for the sensitive beach eco-system, pick it up people!
3. Leave it cleaner than you found it
Leaving garbage on the beach is a great way to give yourself bad karma, so picking up other people’s rubbish will give you double good karma, right?! If you see rubbish on the beach take a second and grab it. The impact of rubbish such as plastic is immense, one second of your time has a huge impact on marine animals!
4. Go to the beach!
Simply choosing to go and spend a wholesome day on the beach over other destinations does wonders for the environment. It may be tempting to hit up a theme park or a large resort, but choosing a more natural option will reduce your eco-footprint and hopefully provide you with a more rewarding experience!
